What modifications can be made to the insoles? Follow
Shoe Selection Recommendations:
It is recommended that the Orpyx® SI sensory insoles are worn in diabetic walking shoes or gym shoes that are deep enough to accommodate insoles and are equipped with removable sock liners. For best results to ensure proper fit it is recommended that Orpyx is provided with the brand (ex: New Balance), model (ex: 928) and sock liner trace of the shoe.
Orpyx® SI Sensory Insoles:
The contoured insole consists of 3 layers:
- OnSteam® breathable and moisture wicking top layer
- PORON® Comfort layer for cushioning
- Multi-density EVA foam (Shore A 35 durometer) – custom milled based on the foot impression
Insoles are available in the size range of Women’s 6-15, Men’s 5-13
Orpyx SI sensory insoles offer the following standard modifications:
Heel cup depth (18mm, 20mm, 22mm) where 18mm is standard. Additional depth adds more stability to heel |
|
Arch support (1,2,3,4,5): 3 is standard. Where 3 is a 30% reduction in arch height, 5 is a 50% reduction in arch height and 1 is a 10% reduction in arch height |
|
PFA (plantar fascia accommodation) provides a 3mm groove along the arch |
|
Offloading depressions can be requested. Due to embedded sensors maximum 3mm depression is allowed |
|
Rear and forefoot posting provides additional height on the medial or lateral side |
Insoles can be modified to accommodate various special requirements such as depressions for offloading and should be clearly communicated on the Orpyx SI Order Form.
Modifications currently not offered by Orpyx, but can be done by third party orthotists:
- Additive modifications, such as metpads, are not recommended as they may interfere with the embedded pressure sensors and cause alerts
- Toe-fillers (partial or trans-met) are not recommended since access to the shoes is required to ensure proper fit
